The Official Opening of the New Yichang Museum

   The opening ceremony of the New Yichang Museum was held in the central hall of the new museum on September 6 during the 10th China Yangtze River Three Gorges International Tourism Festival, marking the official opening of the museum. Zhou Ji, Secretary of Yichang Municipal Party Committee, attended the ceremony and announced the opening of the museum.

  Reporters have learned that the New Yichang Museum, constructed in 2014 with a total investment of 727 million yuan, is opposite to the urban planning exhibition hall. There are 10 exhibition boards and 33 units in the museum, sharing the theme of “The sky opens for you at the end of Three Gorges”. Among them, there are four basic exhibition boards including ancient Xiling, Ba Chu Yiling, Millennium Gorge and Modern Yichang, three exhibition boards of special topic containing Three Gorges of customs, Memory of the Ancient City, Charm of Literature, and three special exhibition boards consisting of Digital Exhibition Hall, Creation of the World and Natural Selection, displaying over 5000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics (including folk exhibits).

  It was understood that the New Yichang Museum was officially opened at 12:00 on September 6. The museum is open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Tuesday to Sunday (No admission after 4 p.m.) and closes every Monday (except for national holidays). Visitors can enter the museum free of charge with ID cards and citizen cards.

  Those who had participated in the launching ceremony included the curators of museums at or above the third-level national museums, the curators of municipal and county museums, the relevant Yichang municipal departments, the leaders of the participating units of museums, volunteers as well as representatives of authorities and industries.(Reporter: Lei Pengcheng)
