On September 26, the People's Government Officeof Yichang Cityissued the “Yichang Garden City Construction Work Plan” (hereinafter referred to as the “Plan”), and proposed the three-year work goal of promoting the construction of the garden city. By 2021, Yichang as a garden city is fundamentallyaccomplished, andfour systems about its construction (index system, work system,policy system and evaluation system)will be improved.

　　The "plan" clarifies the overall goal of "building Yichang into a garden city surrounded by flowers trees,rivers, mountains", according to the idea of "a demonstration in the firstyear, a representativeinthe secondyear, a landscapein the third year."

　　The "plan" proposesthat we need to establish a promotion mechanismof construction, make the" Yichang Garden City Construction Work Plan", and constructa model city with efficient production space, comfortableliving space, and environment-friendlyspace. At the same time, we willcreate a urban landscape ofbeautiful form, ecological andcultural beauty as well asbeautiful lifewith Yichang characteristicsthrough establishinga joint meeting system, reviewingproject planabout construction and reconstruction, optimizingplant configurationand integratinglocal culture.

　　In accordance with the requirements of the “Yichang Garden City Construction Plan”, the four major actions of “increasing the flowersto decorate this city, widening the area of park, creating space for green plant and vertical planting” areimplemented,and 15 demonstration projects arebuilt on important urban roads andtraffic channels.

　　In 2020, according to the “Yichang Garden City Construction Plan”, we need to accelerate the construction of the garden city projectthroughimplementingthe “increasing the flowersas decoration” action, carryingout the selection activities such as “garden unit”, “garden community”, “the most beautiful garden”and “the most beautiful balcony”,advocating “Moving green plants outside and decoratingstreets with flowers”and launchingeducational activities of “ecological children”in which parents teach their kids with knowledge of protecting the environmentin whole city. In the meanwhile, we will startthe activity of “increasing the flowersto decorate this city”in parks and streets, and formulate incentive policiesand performance evaluation systems, and innovate ecological products which is beneficial for people.

　　What is garden city?How do we build it? From the list of tasks in the “Plan”, it can be seen that there are 15 demonstration projects including the entire line andnodesof the Three Gorges special highway in the Xiaotingdistrict and the landscape improvement project around the airport road. At present, 12 construction projects have been completed.

　　From 2019 to 2020, in order to achieve the goal in construction of florallandscape, wewill invest more than 70 million yuan in verticalplantingand flowers planting of 13 main roads such as Dianjun Avenue, Chengdong Avenue and Yanjiang Avenue, as well as 29 parks and rivers such as Mojishan Park, Chengdong Park and ChangjiangShoreline. We also select and cultivate improved flowers and shrubswhich are suitable for local climates, and plantthem in an all-round way to ensure that “the four seasons are evergreenwithflowers”.(reporter Liu Jinxin)
