The reporter was informed on October 17 that the State Council approved and announced the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units and the project of merging with the existing national key cultural relics protection units. Three sites of Natural Tower, South residential buildings and the old site of the third-line Aerospace 066 missile base were selected.
Yichang Natural Tower, which began in Jin Dynasty and ended in the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, lasts for more than 1400 years. The existing building, completed in 1792, has a history of 227 years. It is not only a famous landscape tower in Yichang City, but also a landmark cultural relic building in Yichang city. Located in Zhangjiakou Village, Huanghua Town, Yiling District, The Southern Residential Area(SRA) was built in the sixth year of Jiaqing period (1801) of Qing Dynasty, with a history of 218 years. SRA, composed of two ancient dwellings named "Laohao" and "Baohe", is one of the largest existing dwellings in Qing Dynasty in the Three Gorges area of the Yangtze River.
Previously, in the first batch to the seventh batch, there were 15 national key cultural relics protection sites, including Yuquan Temple and Iron Pagoda, Guanmiao Mountain Site, Mopanshan Site, Jijiahu City Site, Qingshan Tombs, Guanling, Huangling Temple, Fenghuang Mountain Ancient Building Group, Sanyou Cave Cliff, Yang Shoujing's Former Residence and Tomb, Changyang People's Site, Nanxiang City Site, Li Laiheng Resist Qing Dynasty Ruins, Yangjiawan Old Manse, Baibaozhai Rock House.
