Yichang East Railway Station Entering the Era of Electronic Ticket
2019-12-02 15:19:08

On Nov. 25, a passenger was scanning his "ID card" to enter Yichang East Station.

On Nov. 25, it was learned from Yichang East Station that electronic tickets will be officially put into use from Nov. 26. At that time, passengers can enter the station directly with their ID cards when taking the high-speed train. What will happen to passengers after the implementation of e-ticket? The reporter explores to find out the answer. (Pictures by Luo Tingwan, Correspondent Huang Yuyang, Omnimedia reporter of the Three Gorges Daily)

Six Kinds of Certificates Can be Scanned to Enter the Platform

QR Code Scanning System Has not been in Use

In the waiting hall on the second floor, the staff told reporters that all the check-in gates at the entrance of the platform had been upgraded. After e-tickets being put into use, passenger can enter the platform by scanning at the ticket gate six kinds of certificates, including the ID card of the People's Republic of China, the Permanent Residence Permit of Foreigners, the Residence Permit of Hong Kong and Macao Residents, the Residence Permit of Taiwan Residents, Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents and Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents. Passengers with the Household Registration Certificate or Children's Ticket, which cannot be read automatically, can enter the platform through the manual check-in gate.

Passengers are reminded that the QR code scanning system has not been put into use at present, so passengers with e-tickets are required to enter the platform with valid identity documents. In the near future, users who have registered in 12306 website (including 12306 app) and have successfully completed face identity verification through 12306 app can enter the platform directly by scanning the dynamic QR code on the app.

Train Number and Seat Number on the Ticket Information Sheet

Paper Tickets Still Required for Non-High-Speed Train

"A self-service machine will be installed here for ticket information checking and printing. Passengers who have purchased tickets through 12306 website and mobile phone can print Ticket Information Sheet here." Staff told reporters that in order to adapt to the implementation of e-tickets, the station has set up a total of 10 self-service machines, which are distributed in the ticket hall on the first floor, the east and west waiting halls on the second floor and the waiting hall on the third floor, to facilitate passengers to print reimbursement vouchers and ticket information sheets.

After purchasing tickets from the ticket-selling window or an self-service ticket vending machine, passengers will receive a ticket information sheet with the train number, departure time, departure and arrival stations and seat information; however, the ticket information sheet is only used as an information prompt for passengers, not as a ticket.

Passengers are reminded that currently e-tickets are only used in posted line stations. E-tickets are not available at any departure station or terminal station that is not in posted lines, so passengers have to buy paper tickets as usual. In addition, e-tickets cannot be accessed on non-high-speed trains either, so passengers still have to buy paper tickets for travel.

Changes in the Rules for Ticket Refunding and Changing

  Printing Reimbursement Vouchers

On the screen of the self-service ticket vending machine on the first floor, the reporter has also seen the "reimbursement voucher" button in addition to the button for "Internet ticket collection".

The staff explained that the ticket information sheet of the e-ticket could not be used as a ticket or a reimbursement voucher. Passengers can print reimbursement vouchers at the ticket-selling window, the self-service ticket vending machine and the ticket agency with the valid ID card used for ticket purchase within 30 days before or after the departure date. Passengers can contact 12306 customer service center if they need reimbursement vouchers beyond the 30-day limit.

"After the implementation of e-ticket, some changes will also be seen in the rules of ticket refunding and changing." The staff explained that passengers who have purchased e-tickets with e-payment but have not obtained reimbursement vouchers can go through ticket refunding and changing through 12306 website or at the ticket-selling window 25 minutes before departure. Passengers who have paid in cash or have obtained reimbursement vouchers before departure, or whose train will leave in less than 25 minutes, shall go to the designated window of the station for refunding and changing.

In case of ticket inspection on the train, passengers just need to show the conductor their ID cards, with which the conductor can then easily trace the ticket information. (Liu Jingjing, Omnimedia reporter of the Three Gorges Daily,Correspondent Zhao Haijing)
