On the morning of December 22nd, the Morning News channel of CCTV reported on Yichang’s public transport with a theme “The fish-bone-shaped public transport network facilitates travel of the citizens”.

　　The bus rapid transit (BRT) operation system is a creation of Yichang Bus Group in accordance with the BRT operating features and local conditions by making full use of big data and intelligent technology. From its trial operation in July 2015 to the completion of No.1 line in February 2018, a whole new network operation mode was initiated through the construction of an asymmetrical public transportation network under an operation mode of "one (corridor) plus N (branches)" with Dongshan Avenue --- the urban core corridor connecting different blocks, and with the BRT system to meet the passenger demand of the backbone corridor. Under the operation mode, a variety of combinations of "branches plus express plus feeder line" flexibly weave up a network with each BRT platform as a small interchange hub station while allowing free transfer at the same platform, thus bringing 90% of the city's districts into a 30-minute of life circle.

　　The BRT project of the city was awarded "Best Implemented Project" by ADB in 2015, and "World Sustainable Transport Award" by the United Nations Regional Development Center, the Research Institute of Transport and Development Policy and other institutes in 2016. In 2018, Yichang was rated as “Advanced City in Promoting the Development of China BRT” by China BRT Special Committee. In 2019, its operation system of the asymmetrical fish-bone-shaped BRT public transport network was given the "Top Ten Innovation Awards for Urban Public Transport” by the Urban Passenger Transport Branch under China Road Transport Association.
