On December 24, the reporter learned from the press conference held by the Municipal Bureau of Water and LakeResources that after half a year of trial operation, the connection project between Guanzhuang Reservoir and Meiziya Reservoir passed the project legal inspection on December 20. This has brought an end to"concern of bursting pipes" in the water supply in Yichang City, and the hidden dangers that had troubled the water supply safety of Yichang urban area have beeneradicated.
The connection project between Guanzhuang Reservoir and Meiziya Reservoir is a livelihood project that benefits one million residents in Yichang. On February 24, 2018, due to the frequent occurrence of thebursts and leaks in the Dongyi Water Supply Pipeline, which seriously affected the workand life of urban residents, the city started the project with local bond funds.
The project starts at Guanzhuang Reservoir and ends at Meiziya Reservoir, connecting the main water supply pipeline in Yichang City, with a total length of 12.77 kilometers. The project uses double-pipe laying with a diameter of 1400mm and the designed water supply capacity is increased from the original 340,000 tons a day to 440,000 tons a day. On May 28 of that year, with the cooperation of Xiling District, Yiling District and relevant municipal departments, the connection project was officially launched in Guanzhuang Reservoir.
The construction lasted for one year. At 10:00 am, on May 28 this year, the connection project officially supplied water to Yichang City. At present, the project has successfully completed the replacement of the old pipelines, and the maximum actual water supply is 285,000 tons aday. Up to December 23, the cumulative water supply of the new pipeline had reached55.35 million tons, with an average daily supply of 263,000 tons.
