News from the Science and Technology Bureauof Yichangon January 14 said that the Ministry of Science and Technology recently released the “2019Monitoring Reporton Innovative Capabilityof National InnovativeCities”withthe list of national innovative cities. Wuhan, Xiangyangand YichanginHubei province are on the list.

　　In 2013, Yichang was approved as a nationalpilotinnovativecity. In the past six years, Yichang has proactively created a scientific and technological innovation environment. Ithasissued the “Implementation Opinions on Promoting Scientific and Technological Innovation and Accelerating the Construction ofNationalPilotInnovativeCities”,“Measures on Strengthening Scientific and Technological Innovation to Guide High-Quality Development” and other policiestoincreaseinvestment in science and technology,enhancethe cultivation of innovativeentities, the construction of innovation systemandtransformation of scientificand technological achievementsandvigorously develop high-tech industriesforthe construction ofthe innovative city.

　　In recent years, during the process of advancing the construction ofthenationalinnovativecity, Yichang has insisted oninstitutional innovationatahigh level,collaborative innovationthroughindustry-universitypartnershipand system innovationdriven byreforms.The city'swork onscientific and technological innovation has achieved progressive developmentas evidenced bythe “Advanced City for Comprehensive Evaluation of Scientific and Technological Innovation” commended by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government for nine consecutive years.In the annual evaluation last year, Yichang ranked secondinthe whole province.
