Yichang's Total Import and Export Value Amounts to 3.11 Billion Yuan in Q1

  Based on statistics, Yichang's total import and export value amountedto 3.11 billion yuan in Q1, with a decline of 26.9% compared with the same period last year. The exports and imports reached2.71 billion and 400 million yuanrespectively, falling24.9% and 38.1%.

  Confronted with the COVID-19 outbreak, Yichang has proactively beefed up epidemic prevention and control as well as work resumption and production of all industries. As a result, it has made remarkable achievements on boosting steady growth of foreign trade. Yichang's total import and export value in March reached 1.3 billion yuan and the decline in foreign trade was slowing down.

  Import of processing trade has increased and import and export value in bonded logistics haveincreased substantially. Yichang's import and export value in general trade hit 2.51 billion yuan, down 24.9%, accounting for 80.9% of the city's total foreign trade value. Import and export value in processing trade amounted to 440 million yuan, down45.8% and that in bonded logistics reached 150 million yuan, up 74.4%.

  The import and export volume of private enterprises, state-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises haveall dropped significantly. Among them, the total import and export value of private enterprises was 1.65 billion yuan, down 28.6%, making up 53.2% of the city's total foreign trade value. The import and export of state-owned enterprises was 880 million yuan, and that of foreign-invested enterprises was 580 million yuan.

  The top five export markets for Yichang are the ASEANcountries, the EU(excluding the United Kingdom), Japan, the United States, and India, and exports to these areas havedeclined to varying degrees; the main sources of imports are Japan, the EU (excluding the United Kingdom), South Korea, ASEANcountries; imports from and exports to Brazil and Myanmarhave maintained a good increasing momentum.In addition, Yichang' import from and export to countries along the "Belt and Road" reached 1.21 billion yuan, a decrease of 38%.

  Yichang exported agricultural products of 550 million yuan, increasingby 7.2% against the trendandaccounting for 20.5% of the city’s total export value. Among them, fruits of 160 million yuan were exported, an increase of 5.5 times. Exports of fertilizers, high-tech products, electromechanical products, medicinal materials,pharmaceuticals and labor-intensive products declined significantly.

  Imports of raw materials required for production increased significantly, of which the imports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum materials increased by 52.6%, accounting for 20.4% of the city’s total imports. Imports of mechanical and electrical products, unwrought copper and copper materials, and high-tech products declined significantly. Imported agricultural products increased by 12.5%, of which imported dairy products increased by 25.4%,imported meat was worthy of 1.22 million yuan. There was no import of meat in the same period last year.

  Yichang Customs reminds that the epidemic is spreading all over the world and the control measures of various countries are continually escalating, so the decline in external demand is the main difficulty facing foreign trade companies. The cancellation or extension of orders in hand and the difficulty of receiving new orders will pose influence on the subsequent Yichang foreign trade economy with highexport downward risks.
