On May 18, under the supervision of Yichang Customs, a supervised vehicle with 1.63 million surgical masks leftYichang Three Gorges Bonded Logistics Center (Type B) forthe Railway Port in Xi’an, to boardtheChang’anChina-Europe train.
In the past, most of Ogilvy Medical's products were exported by sea. After the outbreak of the pandemic, foreign demand for epidemic prevention supplies surged. Since sea transport is time-consuming andair freight is costly, “rail freightwill enable our customers to receive the goods at least one month earlier,” saidLiu Yuhai, customs manager of the company, “though we pay 1,500 dollarsmoreforeach container”.
After knowing the demands of enterprises, Yichang customs has arranged personnel for a whole process follow-up, by takingthe initiative to dock transit and port customs to coordinate in advance, optimizingthe clearance procedures, andsafeguarding the smooth export of goods. This year, the company has exported medical supplies with a worth of about over 9 million yuan through the method of “second customs transfer,”according to incomplete statistics.
Since the pandemichas influencedsuch logistics channels as international shipping and air transport in different degrees, China-Europe trains have become important logistics passage to undertake transferred goods fromair and sea freight, prioritizingthe transportation of anti-epidemic supplies. Yichang Customs strictly implemented the measures put forward bythe General Administration of Customs and Wuhan Customs to defeatthe virus and help enterprises restore their production, seriously supervising the quality and safety of epidemic prevention exports. Meanwhile, they have also actively collected and metthe requirements from commercial departments and enterprises by establishing exchange tiessuch as foreign trade coordinationgroup and enterprise service group.
