A total of 29 itemsfrom Yichang haveobtained the “Hubei Science and Technology Award”, ranking first in Hubei Province (next to Wuhan). The awards were granted at theProvincial Science and Technology Award Conference, which was held on June 12. A number of individuals and institutions were honored for the prominent contributions they have made to promoting sci-tech progress and social and economic development of Hubei Province in 2019.

　　It’s learned that as many as 326 items have won the Hubei Science and Technology Awardthis year. Yichang has obtained 29 awards, among which 20 items had been completed in Yichang urban area. To be specific, two projects including “Non-linear System Limited Time Stability and Application”of China Three Gorges University(CTGU)have won the third prize in Natural Science; the “Thousand-ton Metal Oxide Nano-powder Material Energy-savingAdvanced Production Linefor Greenand Environmental Protection” from Yichang Three Gorges Zhongrun Nano Material Co., Ltd has obtained the third prize for its Technological Invention; and the “Slope Vegetation Concrete Ecological Restoration Technology”of CTGU has won the second prize in Achievement Promotion; and 15 projects including the “R&Dand Industrialization of Key Technologies for the Comprehensive Utilization of PhosphogypsumResources”from Hubei Yihua Fertilizer Co., Ltd has obtained progress prize in Science and Technology (6 second prizes and 9 third prizes), and Hubei Yishizhuang Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd has obtained Sci-Tech SME Innovation Award.

　　In recent years, Yichanghas vigorously implemented an innovation-driven strategyto accelerate thedevelopment of theregional science and technology by increasing theintegration of resources and facilitating scientific and technological achievements output and transformation. In particular, the Yichang Municipal government has played theguiding role in establishing thecooperative platform between enterprises, universities and research institutes by organizing or sponsoring many scientific and technological innovation activities such as “Yichang Municipal Scientific and Technological Innovation Conference”, meetings on the “Connection of Yichang Innovation Resources”and “Scientific and Technological Policies Training Seminar”. With Yichang government’s support in integration of different scientific and technological resources at various levels, establishment of technical services team, and assistance of technical service infrastructure, the city has formed a sound system of transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Up to now, Yichang has owned1 provincial-level industrial technology research institute,66 provincial-leveland 130 municipal-level engineering technology research centersrespectively, 12 provincial-level and 63municipal-level key laboratoriesrespectively, with the number of R&D platforms of science and technology ranking first in Hubei Province. In 2019, more than 90 enterprises in the city signed more than 140 industry-university-research cooperativeagreementswith over50 universities and research institutes. City-ownedenterprises have established comprehensive and long-term cooperative relationswith Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and other institutionsof higher learning, with more than 170 scientific and technological achievements transformation in the applicationfor national and provincial science and technology projects having been achieved.Over theprevious year, 81 national high-tech enterprises have been founded. Now Yichang has a total of 521 high-tech enterprises, which has been considered as the significant foundation for the city’s implementationunder the guidanceof innovation-driven strategy and industrial development.
