On June 13,a citywide nucleicaciddetectiontestsonsampleswas launched in all seafood markets of Yichang. At present, the Yichang Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has completed a testing collection of 76 seafood samples from 21 markets and supermarkets in main urban areas, all of which have been tested negative.
According to the arrangement of Yichang CDC, local authoritiesorganized a team of more than 20 experts to conduct the testing on 76 samples in 21 urban seafood markets on June 13, including salmon and other aquatic products, surface of processing and production appliances for seafood products, and the waste water, all of which have been tested negative. In addition, all counties and districts will fully complete the sample testing in their local seafood markets on June 14. Furthermore, the sample testing on animals, poultry, freshwater and seafood products in farmer’s market, supermarkets and restaurants will be ramped up. And further efforts will be made to strengthen sanitation management in farmer’s markets and epidemic prevention and control at a regular basis. Meanwhile, the testing results will be announced in a timely manner to ensure consumers’safety and health.
The experts from Yichang CDC suggest citizens to cook seafood products before eating, because those uncooked food may carry some disease-causing microbes. To stay safe, people may as well prepare two sets of knives and chopping boards respectively for processing raw and cooked food. Otherwise, the processing order such as “cooked food first, then raw food”shouldbe followed;the kitchen utensils should be rinsed and sterilized with boiling water after being used to process raw food. The cooled and frozen food needs to be cooked first and then served in summer. Under the epidemic prevention and control at a regular basis, all citizens should monitor their health conditions and protect themselves well. If they have a fever or cough, they should go to hospital while wearing masks.
