The discharge flow of the Three Gorges Reservoir has been cut to relieve flood pressure
2020-07-22 10:39:43

In order to relief the flood pressure in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the discharge flow of the Three Gorges Reservoir has been decreased recently. By July 11th, the outflow of the reservoir has been reduced to 19 thousand m³/s. The Three Gorges Project gave full play to its huge flood prevention and storage advantages, and effectively controlled the rise of the water level of the river. At 14:00 on July 12, the inflow reached 33.5 thousand m³/s while the outflow was only 19 thousand m³/s. Though the water level of the reservoir rose to 151.48 meters, this number of Yichang fell to 45.76 meters, 1.8 meters lower than two days ago.(Photographed by Zheng Jiayu, the correspondent of the Three Gorges Daily)
