The construction ofsupportingpublic transportation facilities ofSanxiaAirport is about to kick off. The project is aimed at improving passenger flow at the airport, helping build it into a three-dimensional comprehensive transportation hub and improvingYichang's status and competitiveness as the core of the city cluster in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The feasibility report of the project has now been approved by the localdevelopment and reform commission. The project is estimated to cost 340 million yuan and construction of it will take 26 months.

　　The project is located rightbelow the parking lot of SanxiaAirport, with a total length of 873.5 meters and a planned land area of 3,651.66 square meters. The project mainly consists of the underground station and the civil engineering work nearby. The station isan underground double-deck island platform station and connects with the T2 terminal of SanxiaAirport through an underground passage. The main structure of the station adopts the underground two-story single-column two-span box frame, and the auxiliary structure adopts the underground single-story box frame. Thestation will be 279.5 meters long witha construction area of approximately 14,700 square meters.

　　Currently, the second-phase reconstruction and expansion project of SanxiaAirport is under construction in full speed. According to the construction plan, the construction of the butterfly junction before the station square will start before the end of this monthand the construction ofT2 terminal will start before the end of the year.
