On November 10, the meteorological bureau of Yichang issued a special report of major meteorological information. It estimates that Yichang’s overall precipitation will be slightly less while temperature will be slightly lower and fluctuations of temperature will be greater during this winter (December 2020~February 2021). The first half of winter will be warm and second half of winter will be cold while it is more likely to have a relatively strong phased process of low temperature rain and snow.

　　According to the comprehensive analysis of the latest atmospheric and oceanic data and climate model forecast, cold air activity will be relatively frequent and the temperature will be slightly lower this winter. The average temperature is expected to be 5℃ ~ 6℃, which is slightly lower in most areas compared with the same period of previous years. The lowest temperature is -4℃ ~ -6℃ in western district and -7℃ ~ -9℃ in eastern district, and the coldest period will be from late January to early February.

　　In addition, the overall precipitation in this winter will be slightly less and the spatial distribution is uneven. It will also have periodic low-temperature rain, snow and haze process. The low-temperature rain and snow will mainly appear from the end of December to early January, mid-late January and late January to early February.

　　The municipal meteorological bureau suggests that attention should be paid to the prevention of freezing damage to overwintering crops and economic forest fruits. Precautionary measures for periodic low-temperature freezing weather with rain and snow and preventive measures for adverse effects caused by fog and haze weather should be taken.
