On November 20, the National Commendation Conference of Spiritual Civilization Constructionwas held in Beijing. Yichang was awarded “National Civilized City” for four consecutive times, Yidu was awarded the same title for two consecutive times and Zhijiang won the title as well for the first time. Up to now, there has been three national civilized cities in Yichang, ranking the first in Hubei province.
The “National Civilized City” is the most honorary title reflecting the level of a city’s overall civilization. As the highest honor in comprehensive evaluation of domestic cities, it is the most valuable brand of a city, displaying its overall strength and influence.
In the earlier-released list, a total of 133 cities were selected as the 6thNational Civilized City, including Shiyan, Ezhou, Jingmen, Zhijiang, Zhushan County, and Danjiangkou in Hubei province. 151 cities in the first five lists of National Civilized City were confirmed to retain the honorary title, including Wuhan, Yichang, Daye and Yidu in our province. Yichang took the lead in Hubei province to win the title in 2011 and was successfully awarded the title for the third time in 2017. Yidu firstly won the title in 2017 and this is the second time to win the honor. It is the first time for Zhijiang to step into the National Civilized City list. The number of national civilized cities in Yichang continues to remain the first in Hubei province.
In recent three years, Yichang has strenuously worked for the goal of building a National Civilized City for four consecutive times. It has always adhered to the people-centered principle and borne the concept of “shaping foundation, nurturing soul and benefiting the people”. It has focused on ideological guidance in the process of construction, striving to improve quality, benefit people and practically solve the problems of people's livelihood. It has also focused on co-construction, sharing and pooling powerful strength to cultivate social morals. It has focused on laying a solid foundation on a regular and long-term basis in the projects of "strengthening and shaping foundation ", "nurturing soul and educating people", "improving quality and benefiting people", "construction-for-all" and "brand promotion". To build a well-off society in an all-round way and improve the outlook of the city, it has expended efforts to optimize the environment, highlight the core social values, continuously carry out five targeted rectificationsand develop linkage and co-construction in all aspects. Consequently, the brand of "civilized city group" can be promoted, an upgraded civilized and health city can be built, and high level of urban civilization and the happiness index of citizens can be achieved.
