  On December 7, experts from the YichangCenter for Disease Control (CDC) issued a“guide”for a healthy winter, reminding citizens to wear masks and wash hands frequently duringnormal epidemic prevention and control.

  Liu Xiaojun, deputy director of the YichangCenter for Disease Control,said that wearing masks scientifically and correctlyis one of the important measures to prevent infectious respiratory diseases. One should change a new mask every four hours. But if the mask gets moist from talking, sneezing or yawning, one should replace it with a new one immediately. He suggested that the children should wear special disposable masks and infants under one year old cannot wear masks and mainly depends on the caretaker’s indirect protection. The caretaker should wear a mask well and does not sneeze or exhale towards the baby.

  “lt’s important to take good personal protection and wash your hands frequently.” Liuxiaojun suggestedthat the public must wash their hands frequentlywiththe seven-step technique and spend no less than 20 secondsin washing hands. The public should wash hands before and after wearing a mask, before eatingandcooking, when taking care of vulnerable family members, after sneezing, using the toilet, throwing garbageand touching cash and public facilitiessuch as elevator buttons and handrails on buses.

  He also reminded the public to pay more attention to the information released about the pandemicand do not go to places ranked as medium and high risk areasfor unnecessary traveling, visiting relatives and friends. In particular,the public, if unnecessary, had better not go abroad and should abide by the entry-exit policyin a consciousmanner ofobeying rules concerningnational epidemic prevention and control.
