On December 18, the first phase of Bailongjing Road, located in the central city, was officially opened to traffic. The 1640-meter-long road startsfrom the Villa Road, crosses the railway under the existing culvert,the East Hill Park, and pass overthe Stadium Road which it then converge atthe south side of the East Hill Middle School, connecting the Stadium Road with the East Hill Avenue.

　　It is understood that the opening of the road will greatly alleviate the traffic pressure on the main roads in the city, such as Dongshan Avenue and Stadium Road. Functioningas "micro-circulation", itwill relieveto the maximum the traffic congestion nearDongshan Middle School during rush hours.

　　"We are pushing ahead with the second phase renovation of Bailongjing Road, which is 347 metres long and divided into two parts: the to-be-builtsection and the maintenance section. At present, we have completed the relevant expert review, financial assessment and other preliminary work, and the project will get under wayin February next year. "said Gu Yuanshun, Directorof Xiling District Housing and Construction Bureau. Hetold the reporters that the next step would be to make clearresponsibility, schedule theproject backward, and strengthen the supervision to ensure that the project will be completed on schedule with high quality and toimprove early the travel conditions of the peoplein residentialcommunities like Bailongjing and Yinglun Huangdu as well as those ofthe neighbouringresidents.
