On November 14, the flight 6347 of Shenzhen Donghai Airlines Co., Ltd. used the green and clean energy for the first time through coveredbridge shore power system of Yichang Sanxia Airport, which marked the official opening of the green airport demonstration project in theArea of Three Gorges Dam.

　　In May,2020, State Grid Yichang Electric Power Company and Yichang Sanxia Airport signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework of Energy Internet to jointly build the “Green Airport Power Substitution Demonstration Project” in the Area of Three Gorges Dam. Shore power system of coveredbridge is a key item in the “Four Major Business Areas” of the cooperation framework.

　　In recent years, the take-off and landing missions of the Yichang Sanxia Airport has increased from 76,500 in 2018 to 86,200 in 2019, and the pollution problem of fuel used during the period of flights parking and waiting is becoming increasingly worse. The coveredbridge shore power system can replace the traditional aviation oil power generation and air supply by direct power supply of the ground coveredbridge during the flights parking and waiting.

　　Li Xingheng, comprehensive energy service engineer of State Grid Yichang Electric Power Company, madea detailed account for thecorrespondent. If the fuel is changed to electricity during the period when flights were waiting, the Yichang Sanxia Airport could reduce aviation fuel consumption by more than 2000 tons andharmful gas emissions by more than 6400 tons. The direct energy consumption cost would be reduced by over two thirds.

　　Both sides will also carry out energy saving reconstruction, such as central air-conditioning and airport lighting, accelerate the construction of energy facilities such as photovoltaic and energy storage, and help the airport to become the symbol of green development in theArea of Three Gorges Dam through a series of demonstration projects.
