It is learnt from Yichang Municipal Public Security Bureau on February 3 that A Notice on Strengthening the Traffic Safety Management of Yichang Urban Expresswayhas been issued in order to guarantee the safety and smooth flow of traffic on Yichang urban expressways.
It is required that fromMarch 1stpedestrians, non-motor vehicles (including motorized wheelchairs and electric bicycles), motorcycles, three-wheeled vehicles, low-speed trucks, tractors, wheeled machinery for special purposes and other vehicles that affect the safety of urban expressways will be banned on the Three Gorges Avenue, Dianjun Avenue, Jiangcheng Expressway, Xiazhou Expressway, Huaxi Expressway (from Bolinhe Road to Hanyi Road), Xiling 2ndRoad Expressway (including Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge) and other newly-built expressways.
Motorcycles crossing the city are to allowed to run on Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, Xiling 2ndRoad Expressway (from Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge to Haishan Sci-Tech Park ramp section) and Three Gorges Avenue. Motorcycles carrying fresh and agricultural products are allowed on all expressways from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
At the same time, motor vehicles on urban expressways must run at the minimum speed of 40 km/h, but must not exceed the speed limit on road signs. Reversing, driving on the wrong side of the expressway, U-turn, stopping in non-emergency cases, overtaking on ramps, driving on lane-dividing lines or in wrong lanes, continuous use of high beams, test driving of vehicles and drive learning are all forbidden on urban expressways.
