The Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology recently announced the results of the 2020 comprehensive evaluation of national high-tech zones, of the 169 zones evaluated, Yichang High-tech Zone ranked 52nd overall, 10 places higher than last year. In single-item rankings of internationalization and global competitiveness, it ranked 41st, the highest level since its establishment.

　　In 2020, the Yichang High-Tech Zone enjoyed a strong economic recovery. The zone’s total industrial output value and industrial value-added growth rate took the lead in achieving positive growth, ranking first in the city. The number of foreign trade enterprises and the freight volume of China-Europe trains increased by 72 percent and 35 percent respectively against the trend. The number of declarations, identifications and net growth of high-tech enterprises ranked first among the city, and the zone was approved the third batch of national demonstration bases for mass entrepreneurship and innovation.
