It is learned that sincethebeginning ofthe Spring Festival, Yichang government has implementeda rangeof preferential policies such as exemption of the stadiums and gymnasiums service fees, the online fitness-themed video competition named “I want to take part in theProvincial Sports Games”, and online exercise guidance given by social sports instructors, which attracted more than 300,000 visitors to participate in the mass fitness activities.
Yichang Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism(YMBCT) has provided the various free activities to meet the diverse fitness demands of residentsin response to thecall from theCentral Government to“Stay Local for theSpring Festival”for the purpose of preventing the epidemic from spreading.
According to an official from the YMBCT, a total of 20 stadiums including the Municipal Stadium, the Municipal Gymnasium, the Municipal Sports Park, the Municipal Olympic Sports Center and the public stadiums of countiesand districtsremained open for free from Feb 11thto 17th, and over 19,000 people benefited from these free policies.
Apart from available free venues, national physique monitoring services werealsooffered for free in theMunicipal Sports Center and many othercounty-level or district-level sports departments with national physique monitoring equipments. This enabled many residentsto enjoy free fitness test while exercising, and get a better understanding of their physicalhealthcondition.
“I want to take part in the Provincial Sports Games”, an online fitness-themed video competition, was a widelyparticipated fitness event conducted by YMBCT. It had attractedextensive attention from Yichangerswho were passionate about sportsever since it was launched on Feb 8th. Nearly 400 submitted-videosdrew almost300,000 Tiktok views by the end of February.
YMBCT also assembled the social sports instructors to provide online scientific fitness guidance courses. The live steaming classes,which were free on Tencent Conference Room and the Tiktok from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. since Feb 11th, focused on teaching the ninth sets of broadcastinggymnastics, yoga,humanmeridian aerobics,Qigong and physical training, etc.. The online fitness guidance could suit the needs of stay-at-home people for exercising.It is estimated thatthe online class hasattractedover 20,000 participants.
