  Moin ul Haque, Pakistani Ambassador to China, and his delegation paid a visit to the Three Gorges DamandGezhouba Dam in Yichang fromApril 8 to 10. During his visit, the ambassador attended the Chinese Sturgeon Release Ceremony and expressed his appreciation to the medical team working in Pakistan. Wang Li, Secretary of Municipal Party Committee, met the delegation.

  On April 9, after visiting the Three Gorges Project Exhibition Hall, the ship lock, the left bank power station, the central control room and the dam roof, Moin ul Haqueand his delegation went to Rare Plants Institute and planted the tree of friendship there, and then visited the Huangling Temple. During his visit to the First People’s Hospital of Yichang, he learnt more about the experience of epidemic prevention and control and the dispatch of medical teams. It was learnt that, on May 7, 2020, the first batch of six medical team members with sufficient medical protection materials and drugs entered the Karrot Hydropower Project (KHP) of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC) for epidemic prevention work.On December 23, 2020, the second batch of three medical team members went to Pakistan with equipment for reinforcement. At present, the prevention and control of COVID-19 in the KHP has achieved phased success. Finally, Moin ul Haque expressed his appreciation via telephone to the medical team members working in Pakistan and to their families as well.

  Moin ul Haquesaid that Yichang is a beautiful city and the First People’s Hospital of Yichang is a medical institution with strong overall strength. Medical teams from the hospital went to Pakistan to help the KHP staff and local people, a sign of Pakistan-China friendship in the new era. The projects of CTGC in Pakistan will not only help to solve the problem of Pakistan's energy shortage, but also increase the local employment and promote social and economic development. Since last year, CTGC has been actively providing medical supplies to Pakistan, funding and contributing to the establishment of medical teams to help Pakistan to deal with the epidemic. These are touching efforts. This year witnesses the 70thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan and 100 celebration activities will be held in the two countries. He expected that Wuhan and Yichang can participate in the celebration to establish friendly ties with Pakistani cities respectively.

  After the symposium, he presented a letter of appreciation to the First People’s Hospital of Yichang and received a gift from the hospital in return.

  On April 10, Ambassador Moin ul Haque attended the Chinese Sturgeon Release Ceremonyand visited the Gezhouba Dam, the Three Gorges Ship lifter and the Wangjia Ancestral Temple.

  Zhang Guihua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Municipal Political and Judicial Commission, Liu Fenglei, Deputy Mayor, and Luo Yi, Party Secretary and Director of the Working Committee in the Three Gorges Dam District attended relevant activities.
