Sanxia Daily. On April 24, the city’s Yangtze River Protection Education Base was put into trial operationwithits venues open to the public. It will be officially openafter the completion of the second phase of the project in July.

　　Located next to ParkNo.424 in the Yangtze River Coast Industrial Park in Xiaoting District,the base is one of the key supporting construction projects for the protection of the Yangtze River in Yichang. The building hasfive floors with a total construction area of 3,192.3 square metres, consisting offive units: The Great River Runs, The Millennium Dream, The Gloryof Civilization, The Green Future and The Song of the Yangtze. Among them, the 17 exhibition areas in the two-story exhibition hall representthe important content of the speeches and the spirit of instructions made byGeneral Secretary Xi Jinpingat the “Three Symposiums”. There are also special exhibitionfacilitiessuch as the Yangtze River Protection Immersive Theatre, a panoramic sand table, anda180-degree arcscreen. All of these facilities make thebasea popular science activity centre for the protection of the Yangtze River, integrating the functions of publicity, education, reception and exchange.

　　Using“General Secretary Xi Jinping’s visit to the Yangtze River and Hubei in April 2018 ”as the lead-in, the education base, through exhibition boards and multimedia electronic screens, vividly demonstrates the specific measures adopted and achievements made bythe people of Yichangin the protection of the Yangtze Riverbyadhering to the integration of ecological civilization concepts and to environment-friendly transformation and development, by consolidating the Yangtze River’s ecological barrier, and by maintaining the safety of water bodies under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions. As a vehicle for spreading the spirit of the Yangtze River protection, the base, by way of its exhibition and study functions,promotesthe concept of environmental protection amongthe public in greater depth in order to create a better living placetogether.

　　The base togetherwith ParkNo.424 and the shoreline re-greening project will make up a riverfront ecological landscape belt, and at the same time formsa chain with the Three Kingdoms Ancient Battlefield, the historical and cultural block along theWeavingStreet and other landscapes so as to build a green waterfront combining suchelements as ecology, industry, culture and tourism.
