Yichang ranks among “China’s Top Ten Beautiful Cities”

  Sanxia Daily (By Xiong Donghua, Fu Wei) On April 23, Yichang was awarded the title of “China’s Top 10 Beautiful Cities” at the China Good LifeCities Award Ceremony held in Chengdu, and is the only city in Hubei Province to win the award. Zhou Zhengying, the vice Mayor, receivedthe award on behalf of thecity.

  In this selection, ten cities won the title of “City of Grandeur”, including Beijing and Shanghai, while another ten cities receivethe title of “Beautiful City”, including Yichang and Suzhou. The titlesof “Comfortable City”, “City of Yearning” and “FavoriteCity” were given respectively to 30 other cities likeShenzhen, Chengdu and Guilin.

  The China Good LifeCities Awards, jointly held by China Central Radio and Television (CCTV), the National Bureau of Statistics, China Post Group and the National Development Institute of Peking University, is conducted annually byhousehold questionnaire on100,000 households nationwide. This year, online network channelsare also employedin the event, participated by500,000 netizens. Yichang ranked high in comprehensive indexes such as sense of gain, happiness, and security of the respondents, which earnsit the title of “China’s Top Ten Beautiful Cities” because of its beautiful ecological environment, rich tourism resources, and excellent business environmentas well as itsoutstanding public services.

  Yichang is a key tourist cityin China, with51 A-class scenic spots, amongwhich 3 are 5A-class. In 2019, it received more than 89 million visitors. In the activity TourHubeiFreelaunched in 2020, Yichang ranked second in the province,second only toWuhan in terms of the number of visitors to the park and the number of visitors from outside the province.In 2020, the city, with itsecological and environmental qualitiessignificantly improved,enteredthe top five in the country and the first in the province in terms of annual air quality improvement, with a record number of 308days of good air. In recent years, Yichang has been supporting itshigh-quality development with a high-level business environment, which placed it first in the province’s business environment evaluation in 2020, and its “six-in-one” approval mechanismreformwas once commended by the State Council.
