Recently, the Ministry of Water Resources approved the establishment of the Three Gorges Reservoir Hydrological Experimental Station to further optimize and improve the layout of the Three Gorges hydrometric network, as well as enhancing the comprehensive capabilities in hydrology, water resources, hydro-ecological monitoring, and disaster early warning, etc. It can provide better hydrological basics and technical support for its operation and scheduling, water resources management, floods and droughts prevention, and scientific experiment of the Three Gorges Reservoir.
The Three Gorges Reservoir Hydrological Experimental Station is one of the construction blueprints of the national basic hydrometric network upgrading and renovation. The station will carry out experimental research such as online monitoring of suspended sediment concentration and real-time monitoring through the vertical gradient, which can realize and even optimize the automatic online monitoring technical scheme for water level, flow, suspended sediment concentration, water quality, etc. (Three Gorges Daily, Correspondent Meng Juan)
