Recently, Yichang received 105.14 million yuan from the Department of Finance of Hubei Province as the first tranche of the 2022 central government budget for air pollution prevention and control. The allocated funds account for 24.45 percent of the total amount of the province and ranked first in the province in terms of amount, an increase of 61.15 million yuan over the last tranche, and the growth rate reached 139 percent.
To mobilize the enthusiasm of industrial enterprises for pollution control, to promote the emission reduction of major pollutants in key industries, and to go on to improve the ambient air quality, the city government has in the past two years been continuously applying for the air pollution prevention programs funded by the central government and making earnest efforts to obtain such special fund from above.Till April, the city has 48 projects registered with the central government air pollution prevention and control fund bank, with a total investment reaching 1.058 billion yuan, and the special fund the city obtained so far has amounted to 184.11 million yuan, in which 160.19 million yuan has been allocated to the overall treatment projects for air pollution in 33 industries and enterprises.
It was estimated that the completion of the 11 industrial pollution treatment projects funded by the central government budget, will bring about an annual reduction of about 320.056 tons of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), about 470.12 tons of SO2, about 897.51 tons of NOx (nitrogen oxides), and about 234.95 tons of particulate matter. Thanks to these efforts, it will mobilize the industrial enterprises across Yichang to invest at least 100 million yuan on the overall treatment projects for air pollution.
