On June 29, the Provincial Development and Reform Commission has officially approved the application of the Qingjiang Pumped Storage Power Station Project in Changyang County, Hubei Province. It is the first approved pumped storage project in western Hubei. According to the report, the approval, the most critical "procedure", marks a crucial step in the construction of pumped storage project in Yichang City.

　　It is reported that, with a total investment of 8.869 billion yuan and a total installed capacity of 1.2 million KW, the construction of Qingjiang Pumped Storage Power Station Project will last 72 months. On the completion of the project, the capacity of the station will be equivalent to a new Geheyan Hydropower Station (a hydropower station in Changyang County built in 1994), which will provide strong impetus for Changyang County to enhance the achievements in poverty-alleviation, and accelerate the high-quality development.
