At present, the biomedical industry in Yichang has formed a pharmaceutical industry system dominated by chemical drug substances and preparations, supplemented by the manufacture of hygienic materials and pharmaceutical supplies, Chinese patent medicines and herbal slices, biological products and derivatives. Yichang is home to a number of competitive market entities abroad and at home, such as Yichang Humanwell Pharmaceutical, Angel Yeast, HEC ChangJiang Pharmaceutical, Allmed Medical Products, Hubei Huaqiang High-Tech. A batch of products with independent intellectual property rights have been cultivated in the city.
