Yichang Recognized as One of the National Key Cities for Recycling Waste Materials

  Recently, seven departments including the National Development and Reform Commission have jointly issued a list of 60 key cities nationwide for the construction of waste material recycling system, with three cities from Hubei Province included, and they are Wuhan, Yichang and Jingmen.

  Over the past few years, Yichang has accelerated the establishment and improvement of an economic system featuring green, low-carbon and circular development, and has made solid progress in the development of zero-waste city, and enhanced its resource recycling capacity. Thanks to these efforts, it has been successively identified as one of the national pilot cities for resource utilization and harmless treatment of kitchen waste, and selected into the first batch of national pilots for a third-party treatment of environmental pollution in industrial parks and the national bases for comprehensive utilization of phosphogypsum, with its basic establishment of a waste material recycling system. In accordance with the relevant requirements, the city will carry out the compilation and printing of an implementation scheme, plan major projects, and strive to create a Yichang Mode on the building of waste material recycling network, processing and utilization of renewable resources, second-hand commodities trading and the development of remanufacturing industry so as to speed up the construction of a model city for the Great Protection of the Yangtze River.
