It is learned from the Yichang Train Depot that 198,000 passenger trips were made during the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7 from the nine railway stations in Yichang, 60% of the passenger flow compared with last year. 224,000 tons of goods were transported, basically the same volume as last year.

During the holiday, most passenger trips were done for family reunions or short-distance and long-distance trips with Xiangyang, Shiyan, Suizhou and Shennongjia Forestry District, Jingmen and Enshi being hot provincial destinations and Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu, and Shanghai being hot destinations out of the province. The passenger flow curve presented a U shape because most trips were made on October 1 and October 7. The peak of 36,000 passenger trips appeared on October 7.

The train depot was well-prepared for the busy holiday in adjusting train operation with daily arrangements. Altogether 1374 trains were operated during the holiday, with a daily average of 196.

Moreover, Yichang Train Depot, situated at the hub of the transport network consisting of railways and the Yangtze River enquired about production, inventory and transportation needs at ports and key enterprises so as to better arrange goods transportation and improve service quality.

The data shows that Yichangdong shipped 224,000 tons of goods in 4239 carriages, including 10,000 tons of grain, 63,000 tons of fertilizer, 31,000 tons of oil and 43,000 tons of iron ore, which guaranteed transportation to meet the needs of citizens and social production.
