230,000 Trips Were Made During 7-day Spring Festival Vacation

  Yichang Train Depot of China Railway Wuhan Group Co.,Ltd. faced the growing wave of travelers returning to their working cities in recent days, as the Spring Festival holiday wound down on Jan 27. The data shows that 73,000 trips were made on Friday in the nine train stations under the management of Yichang Train Depot, marking a year-on-year increase of 10.6 percent and reaching 71.6 percent of the level in 2019. Almost 236,000 train trips were completed during the seven-day Spring Festival travel rush, up 22.6 percent year-on-year and reaching a new peak in three years. Nearly 229,000 tons of commodities were transported over the holiday.

  On the last day of the return peak, 260 passenger trains were put into operation with an addition of 23 trains. Moreover, the railway authority has arranged 21 passenger trains to relax the capacity pressure in the Wuhan-Yichang section.
