Recently, the reporter learned from the Yichang Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau that 635,000 yuan has been paid to 107 urban elderly care workers from 19 elderly care institutions in Yichang City. This is the first sum of subsidy in the elderly care sector in Yichang, which is the second municipality to provide elderly care subsidy in Hubei Province besides Wuhan.

　　To accelerate the building of the elderly care service system of Yichang City and establish the channels for vocational and professional training and development of elderly care workers, the subsidies payment system has been established for the elderly care sector since last April. 107 employees from 19 elderly care institutions were identified through institution-based collective application and third-party review in October last year. The subsidy was supported by the special fund for the development of elderly care services and was distributed to the targeted individuals by the Yichang Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, the highest single payment was up to 17,500 yuan.
