Recently, the Yichang Science and Technology Bureau shared the good news that Yichang was appraised as an excellent city, ranking first among the prefectural cities in Hubei Province according to the Notice on the 2022 Comprehensive Evaluation Results of Sci-tech Innovation of Cities and Counties issued by the Hubei Provincial Committee of the CPC and the People’s Government of Hubei Province. So far, Yichang has consecutively ranked first among the prefectural cities in the past five years in the provincial annual appraisals, appraised as an excellent city consecutively in the past 13 years.

　　The city endeavors to improve the key indicators of scientific and technological innovation. Therefore, the number of high-tech enterprises and small and medium-sized sci-tech enterprises has increased to 1,141 and 1,715 respectively. About 1% of the business entities in the city have contributed nearly 42% of the total industrial output value, 51% of the patent authorization and more than 81% of the added value of high-tech industries. In 2022, the added value of the high-tech industry reached 125.37 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 17%. Meanwhile, the proportion of the added value of the high-tech industry accounted for 22.77% of the GDP, an increase of 5.37% year-on-year.

　　After forming a matrix of key platforms, a number of great achievements have been made in the fields of the green chemical industry, biomedicine, clean energies, and new-generation information technology. Yichang has been selected into the first batch of national intellectual property model cities, and the number of ownership of invention patents per 10,000 people has increased to 14.18.
