Recently, the People’s Government of Hubei Province approved the establishment of Yichang Science and Technology College based on Hubei Three Gorges Technician Institute. Yichang Science and Technology College is a public higher vocational school at the diploma level, showing that Hubei Three Gorges Technician Institute is now a member of higher vocational colleges.

　　It is introduced that Yichang Science and Technology College has initiated the work of enrollment for higher vocational education this year, planning to admit 1,500 students. The college will offer six majors, including digital design and manufacturing technology, intelligent electromechanical technology, automotive inspection and maintenance technology, media technology and operation, big data and accounting, and infant and toddler care services and management. In September, the college will receive its first batch of higher vocational students.

　　Hubei Three Gorges Technician Institute, located in Yichang Vocational Education Park, was founded in 1975 and was officially established through the integration of the original Hubei Three Gorges Advanced Technical School in June 2012 with the approval and registration of the provincial government and national authorities.

　　In March 2018, Hubei Three Gorges Technician Institute was integrated with Yichang Electromechanical Engineering School to form the new Hubei Three Gorges Technician Institute with the approval of the Yichang Municipal Government. Currently, the institute has more than 5,000 students and 354 faculty members, including 6 senior teachers and 133 lecturers.

　　Zhou Yutang, president of the college, stated that the college will adhere to the national goals of reform and development in higher education, focusing on cultivating students’ moral character and craftsmanship spirit, and closely aligned with the development of Hubei Province and Yichang City. The college will promote coordinated innovation in vocational education, higher education, and continuing education, effectively enhance the adaptability and attractiveness of higher vocational education, and provide strong support for building Yichang into a model city for the protection of the Yangtze River.

　　With this establishment of this college, the number of colleges and universities in Yichang will increase to seven, including China Three Gorges University and Science and Technology of China Three Gorges University as undergraduate institutions, and Hubei Three Gorges Polytechnic, Three Gorges Tourism Vocational and Technical College, Three Gorges Vocational College of Electric Power, and Yichang Science and Technology College as higher vocational institutions, as well as Yichang Radio and Television University.(Reporter/Wan Longyun, Correspondent/Zhang Ying)
