At 21:26 on July 5, the Y174 tourist train with over 600 passengers aboard set off from Yichang East Railway Station to Ji’ning South Railway Station in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, kicking off a week-long summer grassland trip. It marked the departure of the first tourist train from Yichang to Inner Mongolia.
The 5,000km-roundtrip of the train covers Hubei, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and Hebei, connecting 6 provinces, 2 autonomous regions and 13 prefecture-level cities, including the scenic spots of these areas, especially the northwest provinces. The train stops during the day and departs at night to meet the demands of tourism plan. In this mode, the tourists can visit a number of famous destinations in northwest China in a single trip, such as Zhongwei, a “water city in desert”, Yinchuan, a “southern city in northwest China”, and Ji’ning, a “summer resort on grassland”.
