The expansion and opening project of the Yichang Sanxia Airport passed national acceptance on July 13, as makes the dream of international air travel of Yichang people come true.

　　The national acceptance team, composed of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, the National Immigration Administration, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission, after the field investigation and comprehensive evaluation, concluded that Yichang Sanxia Airport has been equipped with inspection facilities in line with national standards, and met the requirements for the expansion and opening of the aviation port. The whole team unanimously agreed to approve the acceptance.

　　The second phase of the renovation and expansion project of the Yichang Sanxia Airport was launched in 2017. The renovation of the International Terminal T1 was started in July 2022, and the construction has been fully completed. The number of near-range boarding gates has been increased from one to four, and the construction area of T1 has been expanded from 14,800 square meters to 16,500 square meters, which can guarantee the annual international passenger throughput of about 500,000 passengers and meet the regulations and requirements of airport expansion and opening.
