On August 1, after local recommendation, provincial review and publicity, the Hubei Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development announced that 100 townships, such as Mulan Township in Huangpi district of Wuhan were selected as provincial demonstration townships of Beautiful Towns in Hubei, and a total of 14 townships in Yichang were selected.

　　In 2020, Hubei province issued a three-year action plan to “beautify small towns”, with townships (excluding Chengguan towns) and independent sub-district areas outside the urban area as the main targets. The action plan aims to strengthen the seven weak areas of planning deficiencies, public environment, infrastructure, public services, townscape, industrial development, and governance.

　　The 14 selected townships are respectively Gaojiayan town in Changyang Tujia autonomous county, Jiuwanxi town and Shuitianba township in Zigui county, Zhangcunping town and Sandouping town in Yiling district, Wen’an town and Xiannv town in Zhijiang city, Zhicheng town in Yidu city, Changleping town in Wufeng Tujia autonomous county, Leizu town in Yuan’an county, Yuxi town and Banyue town in Dangyang city, Zhaojun town and Zhenzi township in Xingshan county.

　　The Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development requires that the selected demonstration townships need to cherish the honor, make further efforts, actively play a typical demonstration role, further enhance the living environment, townscape and governance, and constantly optimize basic public services so as to build themselves into provincial model townships suitable for living and working.
