From August 3 to 4, a review of Yichang as a national water-saving city was conducted by the national assessment team. Through on-site inspections, information briefing, document reviews, and expert evaluations, the team unanimously agreed that Yichang’s various indicators met the relevant assessment requirements for being a national water-saving city.
In 2019, Yichang was awarded the title of “National Water-Saving City”. Up to now, the reuse rate of industrial water has reached 90.67%. The coverage rates for water-saving enterprises, water-saving institutions and companies, and water-saving residential complexes are 33.12%, 20.27%, and 23.43% respectively. The average daily water consumption per urban resident is controlled at 165.18 liters. The popularity rate of water-saving appliances remains at 100%. All indicators have met the requirements of the selection standards of national water-saving cities.
The team believes that Yichang has attached great importance to water-saving efforts in the process of deepening the construction of a national water-saving city and there exists a perfect work mechanism to ensure the implementation of work. The team has also provided suggestions and recommendations to further improve the water supply network’ s leak control and to utilize unconventional water resources.
