On August 10, it was learned from the Yichang Municipal Association for Science and Technology that Hubei Yiling Tea Science and Technology Backyard, Hubei Yichang Citrus Science and Technology Backyard, and Hubei Dangyang Pig Farming Science and Technology Backyard have been approved for establishment by the China Rural Special Technology Association (CRSTA).
The three science and technology backyards are affiliated with Yichang Qingxigou Gong Tea Co., Ltd., Hubei Jiguniang Agricultural Technology Development Co., Ltd., and Yichang Chuyuan Nongfu Agriculture Development Co., Ltd., respectively. The co-building institutions are Hubei Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Rural Informatization Promotion Center of Hubei Academy of Scientific and Technical Information, Wuhan Polytechnic University, and Huazhong Agricultural University. Both universities will send at least two graduate students to each co-built science and technology backyard, providing farmers with face to face, instant, cost-free, and accessible scientific and technological services.
Under the guidance of teams of university professors, together with long-term stationed graduate students, the science and technology backyards will convert research into practical technologies and transfer them to farmers in a hands-on manner. Currently, Yichang has already established and received approval for four science and technology backyards and is nurturing 33 more science and technology backyards.
