Recently, Yichang held the 6th Chinese Physicians’ Day celebration and paid tribute to the “Most Beautiful Health Guardians”, recognizing a group of outstanding medical workers. By setting models, the city government meant to further promote the medical spirit of “respecting life, healing the wounded and saving the dying, being willing to contribute, and showing indiscriminate love”, so that a good climate of respecting doctors and ensuring health can be cultivated in the whole society.

　　Those commended at the event are 10 “Most Beautiful Health Guardians”, 100 excellent physicians, 20 renowned medical studios, 30 leading medical talents, 100 young and middle-aged leading medical talents, and 14 renowned township and community doctors.

　　In recent years, the city’s health industry has shown a good development trend as it has consistently placed people’s health in a prominent position, steadily promoted the reform of the medical and health system, continuously improved the public health service system, and comprehensively strengthened the construction of medical talent teams. There are a total of 41700 medical workers in the city’s medical and health institutions, including 303 doctors, 2412 masters, and 3783 workers with senior professional and technical titles in health. The city boasts two national level key clinical specialties, one national key clinical specialty of traditional Chinese medicine, four key specialties of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and 154 provincial-level key clinical specialties. With 31,000 beds in total in Yicang’s medical institutions, 3.3 licensed (assistant) doctors, 4.1 registered nurses, and 7.9 beds per 1000 people, Yichang is above the average provincial level in all these aspects.
