New Year celebration cultural activities revealed to embrace 2024

  Recently, the arrangement of key cultural activities to embrace the new year of 2024 was introduced to the public, according to the press conference held in Yichang Sanxia Converged Media Center.

  From Dec.15, 2023 to Feb. 24, 2024, Yichang will organize 10 large-scale and high-quality cultural activities, including the opening ceremony of the 39th “Youth Poetry Slam” of China Writers Association as well as the unveiling ceremony of the “Yangtze River Artistic Town”, and carry out over 200 special themed activities such as the Spring Festival fair, cultural and art performances, intangible cultural heritage exhibitions and folk customs representation.

  During the period, in addition to the Spring Festival lantern exhibition and the fireworks party, the TMuziekFrascati (The Belgian Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) will also perform at the 2024 New Year Symphony Concert. Renowned rock musicians and teams are expected to perform at the 2024 New Year Eve’s Gala. Other activities include 2024 “Wuyue Night”New Year Eve Concert, the cultural activities of “Our Dream”, the intangible cultural heritage exhibitions and holiday museum and library series.

  More than 70 concerts, shows and theatrical performances will be staged one after another in various districts and counties, including 40 events during the 4th Yichang Art Festival, more than 10 high-quality stage plays such as the modern dramas Qu Yuan and Sunrise, the children’s drama The Nutcracker and the classic Russian dance drama Joyful Siberia, the Zhijiang Spring Festival gala, the Yuan’an village Spring Festival gala (the opening ceremony of village Spring Festival galas in 2024), etc.

  Focusing on local cultures, such as the Yangtze River culture, the Qu Yuan culture, the Zhaojun culture, the Ba and Chu cultures, Yichang will also launch more than 100 folk customs activities under the theme of “Our Festival” to showcase that Yichang is the best place for living, working and traveling. During the lantern exhibition, activities like the Hanfu show, traditional Chinese-style performances, craft fairs, temple fairs, parades, etc. will also be organized to immerse citizens and tourists in an authentic festive atmosphere.
