During the New Year holidays, loads of measures were taken in Yichang to promote consumption, contributing to the growth of consumer demand and the boost of market confidence. From December 30, 2023 to January 1, 2024, Yichang Municipal Bureau of Commerce reckons, the sales of eleven major commercial complexes, including Yichang International Trade Group, hit 90 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.19%, and up by 45.45% from 2019. Most striking of all, Yichang Wuyue Plaza grossed 7.5 million yuan, a surge of 87.5% year on year from 2022.
Over the coming Spring Festival holidays, Yichang is expected to launch a variety of sales events such as 10 consumer attractions and over 40 themed promotional activities. Local large supermarkets and commercial complexes are committed to meeting consumer needs by livening the consumption environment, giving full play to opportunities to draw consumers, and fostering sales performance. Culture, tourism and commerce will be further integrated to boom the economy with growing ice and snow industry, bringing a new lease of life into the market of consumption. The Qu Yuan Temple International Ski Resort, which was opened to public before the New Year’s Day, together with other four main ski resorts, including the Bailihuang Ski Resort, has stepped up people’s enthusiasm for winter tourism, as attracted travelers flooding in from neighboring cities and boosted the accommodation and catering industries of the destinations.
