It is recently learned that Yichang City Sports School was given the 2023 National Outstanding Contribution Award to Sports as an excellent collective.

　　The Decision on Commending Collective and Individual Outstanding Contributions to the National Sports in 2023 released by the General Administration of Sport of China was announced at the 2023 National Conference of Sports Administration Directors. Yichang City Sports School earned the national honor for its united efforts to strive for excellent performance in the past year, and was selected as one of the six representatives of the national collectives to go to Beijing to receive on-site recognition.

　　The school has achieved historic breakthroughs in athletic performance in 2023. It ranked the second among the sports schools in terms of the number of gold medals, total scores and periodic conveyance of sports talents at the 16th Games of Hubei Province. In addition, it has cultivated athletes who gained 2 world championships, 9 Asian championships and 20 national championships, as well as three gold medalists and one silver medalists at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
