Yichang cracks down hard on unlawful taxi operations
2024-03-08 14:46:43

It is reported that the Yichang Road Traffic Law Enforcement Brigade will increase its effort to inspect taxis this year in order to enhance the public’s satisfaction.

The city received 2723 taxi complaints in 2023, all of which were well handled in time. The number of complaints received in January was the smallest, and that in August was the largest. The three most common types of complaints were detours, bad service attitude, and the violation of fare collection regulations.

To further improve taxi operation, this year the brigade will increase the frequency of spot checks on taxis with the use of the taxi operation system and cameras at taxi stands. They will also increase road inspections by using taxi lanes, organize volunteers to conduct secret investigations of taxis in a “regular + irregular” manner, and seriously handle any issues discovered in accordance with the law.

Taxi drivers who exhibit good conduct and excellent service will be placed on the “white list” and publicly recognized as excellent examples of the industry, while those engaging in uncivilized conduct and unlawful operation will be exposed on the “blacklist” and punished according to the law. Incorrigible taxi drivers will be listed in the industry blacklist. (Reporter/He Guanying, Correspondents/ Li Lu & Hu Rui)
