Recently, it was learnt from the Yichang Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau that Yichang has launched the aging-friendly renovation work for the neediest in 2024, with at least 1673 households to be completed this year. By March 29, all needy homes will have made registrations, and the government calls for application.
This year, the project covers a wider range of age groups, from elderly individuals with preferential treatment, senior citizens with special family planning conditions, and aging and disabled population who have made significant contributions to the society, to those relocated from old urban residential communities, rural dilapidated houses, long-term public rental housing, and low-cost rental housing, including the elderly who are older, disabled, left behind, living alone, or handicapped.
As of 2023, the Hubei Provincial Department of Civil Affairs has issued a renovation plan of 3542 units in total to Yichang City. The actual number of households renovated in Yichang hit 3681, exceeding the target three years in a row. This domestic feat has facilitated lives for the elderly.
