Prefabrication of the box girder for the Bid 6 project of the Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway is under construction in Dangyang.
At around 14 p.m. on March 15, as the final batch of concrete slowly poured into place, the prefabrication of the box girder 12# for the Bid 6 project of the Wuhan-Yichang section, part of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway, was completed on schedule in Dang Yang. This construction project, managed by the Yangtze River Coast Railway Group Co., Ltd. and undertaken by China Railway 24th Bureau Group, has laid the groundwork for subsequent tasks such as girder erection, bridge deck installation, and ballastless track construction.
The Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway, a crucial component of China’s “Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals” high-speed rail network, serves as the main artery of the “Along the Yangtze River” corridor. With a total length of approximately 2,100 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the project has an investment of about 593 billion yuan (RMB). The Wuhan-Yichang section, spanning 313 kilometers, officially commenced construction on September 25, 2021. Once the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway is operational, it will facilitate Yichang’ integration into Wuhan’s “One-Hour Economic Circle” and help establish a “One-Day Business Circle” connecting Shanghai and Chengdu, enhancing connectivity within the Yichang-Jingzhou Metropolitan Area.
