In response to the trip spike during the upcoming May Day holiday, the Yichang traffic authorities advise people to avoid peak traffic periods and routes and stay cautious while driving, which will help them enjoy a better travel experience.
Yichang is expected to see high travel volumes on May 1, mainly in the neighborhood of passenger transport stations, such as Jvcheng Road, Tongqiang Road, and Baisha Road near the Yichang East Station. The central urban area will witness increased traffic on major bridges across the river, the Sanxia Expressway, Xiazhou Avenue, G50 Huyu Expressway Yichang Toll Station, Baiyang Toll Station, and so on. Self-driving trips are predicted to surge in highway entrances and exits.
It is estimated that some most congested roads in urban districts include: Xiling Second Road to Zhixi Bridge on-ramp and Xiling Second Road to Shengli Fourth Road on Dongshan Avenue (Xiling District); the Sanxia Highway from Dongzhan Road to Heyi Road interchange, Heyi Road from Sanxia Avenue off-ramp to Chengdong Avenue, Dongyan Road to Zhongnan First Road intersection on Chengdong Avenue, Baisha Road to Dongzhan Road, the Sanxia Logistics Park to Dongzhan Road (Wujiagang District); the Xiazhou Avenue expressway in Gaoxin section, Hanyi Road in Tumen Town section, road sections around the Aqua Plaza commercial district on Fazhan Avenue (Gaoxin District); the ZhiXi Bridge, Dianjun Avenue, and the junction of Jiangcheng Avenue and Dianjun Avenue (Dianjun District); Xianfeng Road to Chuanchang Road during peak hours (Xiaoting District).
Additionally, several road sections are in poor conditions due to construction in progress, and drivers are advised to consider alternative routes, including Gangyao Road, Zhuhai Road, Beihai Road, Huaxi Road, Tianjiahe Avenue (Baiyang Industrial Park), Majiapu Road (Gaoxin District); Yichang-Changyang expressway, Juanqiaohe Avenue, the Yiling Changjiang Bridge (Dianjun District); the Jingyuan section on Shengli Fourth Road in Yiling Avenue (Wujiagang District).
Areas prone to traffic accidents include Pinghu Road (with three hairpin turns), the Jiangjunyan section on Yemingzhu Road (a path along the cliff overlooking the Yangtze River), Xiling Second Road to Shengli Fourth Road on Yiling Avenue, and the Gezhouba Roundabout in Xiling District; the Heyi Road interchange off-ramp at the entrance to Sanxia Avenue and routes neighboring the Sanxia Logistics Park in Wujiagang District (high-volume traffic, multiple intersections). Caution is required of drivers on the mentioned locations. (Reporter/Chen Fei, Correspondent/Hu Jinmei)
