Recently, the Office of the River and Lake Chief SystemofHubei Province released the selection results for the “Co-creationof Well-managedRivers and Lakes” in 2023. The HuangbaiheRiver in Yiling District wasrated as a provincial-level well-managed one, and Liu Xiaohua, the village-level river and lake chief of the section of Horticulture Village, Sanduping Town of the Yangtze River, has been rewarded as an excellent chief ofriverand lake management.

　　In recent years, Yiling District has attached great importance to the implementation of the river and lake chief system, and has carried out a “Joint Creation Action of Well-managed Rivers and Lakes”for the protection of clean waters throughout the district. Exactly, the sub-districts in Yiling District have actively participatedin the work and have built one district-level and 13 township-level pilot models of well-managed rivers and lakes, as well as the construction of 13 standard river and lake management teams, having achieved the classified management of 6526 “small and micro water bodies”of the whole district including flood discharge gullies, gutters around residences, ponds, and ditches.
