Yichang Museum presents 27 new artifacts
2024-08-02 11:11:32

The Yichang Museum has recently revamped its exhibits in the sections of “Ancient Xiling,” “Ba & Chu Culture” and “Past 1000 Years of Yichang” by introducing 27 new artifacts.

It was learned that the newly added artifacts—spanning bronzes, ceramics, bone objects, stone tools, and pottery—boast an impressive array, many of which are making their debut post-restoration. Standout pieces include a Neolithic human-shaped pottery pedestal discovered at the Nanmuyuan Site in Badong County, Enshi Tujia Autonomous Prefecture, a Neolithic bone bear excavated from the Chaotianzui Site in Zigui County, Yichang, and a stunning turquoise-inlaid bronze sword from the Warring States Period, unearthed from the Lijiawazi Tomb in the Zhaojiahu Cemetery, Dangyang County. Several jade ornaments from the same period, found in Jiuligang, Dangyang County, and a pottery figurine of Six Dynasties from Sanjiang in Yidu County, also grace the exhibition. To amplify the significance and visual splendor of key exhibits, the museum has strategically repositioned highlights such as the tiger-shaped copper belt hook of the Western Han Dynasty and the gilded bronze bear of the Eastern Han Dynasty.

Besides, the Yichang Museum has incorporated interactive zones that engage visitors, offering AR experience, costume-changing and travel photography opportunities, and calligraphy workshops. Participants can also indulge in exciting activities like AR navigation glasses, stamp collection challenges, child-friendly detective games, 3D-printed “artifact” chocolates, and 3D-printed “artifact” toy dispensers.
