Yichang Sanxia International Airport recently achieved a milestone, surpassing 10,000 tons of cargo and mail throughputs for the first time on August 20, marking a 462% year-on-year surge and hittinga new record.
It is learnedthatthe airport has facilitated the export of various products “Made in Yichang,” including agricultural and sideline products, food additives, packaging materials, canned foods, and chemical goods, via air freight, while primarily importing daily necessities and food products.
Amidst the persistent heatwave gripping Yichang this summer, which coincides with the peak harvest season for local agricultural byproducts, air logistics has emerged as a crucial transportation avenue. In response, the airport has significantly strengthened its collaboration with freight forwarders and local businesses, offering special discounted rates and comprehensive services, such as cargo space reservations and shipment tracking. Since the onset of the summer travel rush, the airport has transported 56.8 tons of agricultural and sideline products, a year-on-year increase of 51.2%, with a peak daily transportation volume reaching 2 tons.
